Paulina and I actually met each other when we were in junior high at Bethel Bible Camp, but we never became friends or anything. Then one day at The Project a little over a year ago I saw her and knew exactly who she was. Or should I say I heard her and knew exactly who it was? Haha. We talked a couple times, were part of the same small group last summer, and eventually our mutual friends started to overlap, leading to our friendship beginning! I still have lots to learn about her, but from what I do know and from the time we have spent together I know that she is spectacular. This girl is a light. A fierce, Jesus loving, loud, selfless, down to earth girl on fire kind of light. When she sings I can hear the Spirit flowing through her. When I talk to her I feel like her heart is exploding. She is intense, and conversation and time with her ALWAYS leaves me feeling moved. Basically, I don't know anyone else like her, I believe in her, and I am oh so thankful for her presence and voice in my life.

so it's been a while since I took these images. but between the busyness of life from then to now I most certainly haven't forgotten about them.
the morning of this session was filled with laughter, conversation, honesty, oils, good light, more laughter, and some dang good spinach dip. <3 I just wanted to say thank you Rixt, thank you for asking me and trusting me to take these images of you. thank you for just being you.

Calgary Boudoir - Shacarra
I get this feeling when I do what I love that I can't quite put into exact words.
But I'll try.
It's when I get to work with the light. Especially window light.
When I start with somewhat of a plan but eventually drift away from it to build from what I feel.
When I know it's the end because right after I stop I literally feel like I've been outside my body. I'm on a sort of creative high.
When I get to create with exceptional people; people who trust me enough to be vulnerable in front of my lens. And vulnerable doesn't mean lacking clothing. It's just being open and being yourself. It's engaging in real conversations. It's having faith in the process.
And this brings me to Shacarra. This girl is confident. This girl knows who she is. This girl loves not wearing clothes. And I adore her for all of those things. Thanks b, love you. <3 <3
